Adrienne Barr received her BFA in Modern Dance and Choreography from the Ohio University School of Dance. There she studied dance intensively, as well as teaching/pedagogy, anatomy and kinesiology, and the Pilates Method, giving her an extensive body knowledge.

She received her Hatha Yoga Teaching Certification at the Sivananda Vedanta Centre in Val Morin, Quebec, Canada. During that time, she studied yoga asanas (postures), yogic philosophy, meditation and chanting. Adrienne has also studied yoga from various other teachers, thus influenced by an array of styles.

She has taught yoga all over the Pittsburgh area, most recently at The Nuin Center, Whole Health Resources, Health Horizons and Yoga Sadhana. She also teaches children's dance and creative movement in Pittsburgh Public Schools.

You can catch her dancing professionally with LABCO Modern Dance Company and frequently with the Pittsburgh Dance Alloy.

Hatha Yoga - improves overall health while building strength, endurance and flexibility.  It also reduces stress and enhances mental well being.  These sessions use sun salutations, basic yoga postures, breathing exercises and relaxation techniques designed to meet the needs of all class participants.

Flow Yoga -  This invigorating style of yoga is designed to lead students into a more challenging practice.  We will focus on linking the postures together with the use of the breath, developing a peaceful inner awareness while cultivating strength and stamina for the body.  Knowledge of the sun salutation and basic postures necessary.

Relax, breathe deeply and learn the keys to health, vitality and inner peace.  Relaxation and the art of the breath instill a sense of calm and lasting contentment.  Pranayama can improve metabolism, increase energy, balance health, enhance the immune system and harmonize emotions. 

This workshop will begin by exploring the fundamentals of basic breath support, and lead students into a complete practice of breathing techniques to bring the body and mind into a state of stillness, and to relax and rejuvenate.

Yoga promote a connection between the mind and body to help return the body to its natural weight.

Adrienne teaches a wide range of yoga classes ranging from beginner to advanced. Blending Hatha yoga with her knowledge of anatomy and alignment, the class is truly created for the students.

Using breath support and flow of the body, Adrienne creates a relaxing and peaceful atmosphere where each individual body can work at their own pace, while still being challenged. Adrienne firmly believes that there is a way for everyone to do the postures. She can create a variation for the student at any level, any age, any physicality.

Adrienne is known for giving plenty of individual attention and answering any questions that arise; even in the largest of class settings. Her careful attention to detail, "gentle correction" of students and "generous spirit" make her classes distinctive.
