Welcome to the January, 2008 issue of my e-newsletter. My vision is to help you create a healthy, fit body; emotional harmony; and passionate, abundant living.  The focus of this issue is change, why you may resist it, and how that hurts you and closes doors to your greater good.

Many of you know me as a counselor/coach who helps clients reverse health and weight issues holistically.  I’ve discovered that nearly everyone who has health problems has issues in their lives that negatively impact health.  An out of balance life, combined with limiting mental concepts and conflicting intentions, leads to self sabotage.  The best of food and supplements will never permanently get you to optimum health if your mind, emotions and life are working against you.  There’s no pill, potion, or surgery that can reverse conflicting intentions and self sabotage.  The magic bullet is within you and I can lead you to it.

Call me idealistic if you like, but I continue to believe that our birthright is radiant health and joyful, abundant living.  I’ve dedicated much of my life to sorting through the hype , studying from some true Masters, and teaching clients how to create radiant Whole Health—physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually, and in their lives.

I’ve put together a Life and Health by Design e-guide, an effective starter tool for getting unstuck and evolving into a healthier, happier, more abundant version of yourself.   I am offering this e-guide free to subscribers.  I believe we can all have what we want and hope you do too.

The Secret and The Law of Attraction have awakened many people to an awareness of the powerful influence of the mind on everything that occurs in life.  I’ve known people who have been visualizing what they want for decades without results.  I hope you’re not one of them.  There’s more to getting what you want than thinking about it.

From my 25 years experience counseling and coaching clients, I’ve learned the many ways we stop ourselves from having radiant health and a joyful, abundant life we love.  Until these unconscious habits and ways of being are eradicated, your positive affirmations and visualizations will have little impact.

Every challenge in life is a catalyst for change so that you may experience your life and health in happier, easier, and better ways.  Simply wishing your problems away does not work.

I’ve created a Whole Health Guide to help you recognize the conflicting intentions that are stopping you from getting what you say you want.  You’ll learn many tools for eliminating unknown saboteurs that are draining the life from your positive vision and affirmations.  My new e-book, Whole Health e-Guide to What’s Stopping You, will be available January 28.  Watch your inbox for details.

There are many contradictory books and lots of internet advice all espousing the perfect way for everyone to have optimum health and an abundance of everything.  You can accomplish your goals by learning how to create a personalized blueprint for your ideal health and life based on where you are right now.

I’ve created a TeleSeminar series, Life and Health by Design, beginning February 11, that’s sure to bring you success.  If this is the year you are genuinely committed to your health and happiness, the support, guidance, resource material, and accountability you will receive from being a participant in this TeleSeminar provide the perfect opportunity for you to triumph.

Where are you on your path?

Are you feeling good about yourself, your health and the direction of your life for 2008?  What’s your track record for actualizing your dreams and goals?  Do you set the same goals year after year without consistent results?  Are you good at setting goals, but unsuccessful at getting long term results?  Perhaps it’s time for some professional guidance.  Join me on February 11 for Life and Health by Design TeleSeminar, and learn to create an unstoppable plan.

Imagine you have amnesia—you have no past; no preconceived ideas about life or what you can or can’t do or have.  You just landed on the planet with your positive mind, creativity and a limitless smorgasbord of experiences to choose from.  What would you do?  I like to approach the New Year with this mindset.

You’re not the person you used to be

Often you're held back by an outdated view of yourself.  It’s important to update your vision of yourself.  You are not your past.  All of your experiences have shaped who you are today.  Everyone has made mistakes.  Dwelling on all of the things you’ve done wrong invalidates all the wisdom you’ve gained.  Life is a game to be enjoyed.  We’re all learning and evolving with each experience.  It’s important to discern what you want to keep and what you want to discard from your experiences.  Recognizing how you’ve grown, changed, and become a better person from your past experiences will move you forward.

Everyone came into this life equipped with the skills for creating health, abundance, and happiness.  Your conditioning throughout your life has caused you to forget.  The people and experiences in your life are showing you who you really are and what you’re capable of when you change your perception.

You have the potential to be calm, centered, focused and positive.  Within you there’s a confident, courageous, decisive, passionate person who is relaxed with risk and adventure.  There’s a patient, resourceful, inspired, motivated, creative and resourceful aspect to you. And there’s a healthy, fit body and abundant, joyful life waiting for you to claim it.

How you see yourself will direct the movement of your life in 2008.  If you dwell on negatives and mistakes you disallow your goals and dreams.  I’m a big advocate of self-awareness as a tool for getting unstuck. Answering these questions will help you move forward in accomplishing your goals.

Whole Health Awareness Questions

What have you learned about yourself in 2007?

Write down your strengths and weaknesses?

Are there any aspects of your personality you would you like to leave behind?

What aspects of your personality would you like to expand on?

You’re whoever you think and say you are.  Think wonderful, kind, loving, encouraging thoughts about yourself.  Live from your strengths and stretch yourself to become the kind of person you dream of being.

 It’s Time to Purge

An inner clean-up is in order, and I’m not talking about going on a dietary detoxification program.  Start with yourself and begin to eliminate self-criticism, doubt, feelings of unworthiness, and other negatives.  This process is easier if you redirect your focus to your strengths and good qualities.

Examine your excuses for not having what you want.  They will enlighten you to the personal truths that are guiding your life.  Do away with them by coming up with reasons you can have what you want.  Excuses become personal truths and are remnants of learned cultural and genetic conditioning.  They are waiting for you to change them.

Eliminate blaming others for your problems.  It can be scary to take full responsibility for everything in your life.  You give your power to the very people and conditions you are blaming.  You get it back when you take responsibility for your happiness.

Why Your Commitment Weakens

If you haven’t gotten the result you want, it’s important to examine your level of commitment to losing weight, having radiant health, emotional harmony, and an abundant life you truly love.  Sometimes when you make that commitment, everything within you that opposes having those things comes to the surface and creates endless distractions, reasons, excuses and justifications for not having the time or resources to achieve your goals.

When this occurs, the voice of fear has taken over and caused life to give you all sorts of reasons why you can’t do it.  Unexpected work demands will consume your time; the car will break down; the kids will get sick.  All kinds of events--seemingly out of your control--will come your way to prevent you from having the time, money or other resources to fulfill your commitment to your vision for your life.  Your fearful aspect will give you hundreds of reasons for not doing what you know is good for you.  Fear will try to convince you that it’s too hard, you won’t be successful, and you won’t like the changes, and all those other excuses that come to mind.

This happens to everyone.  The good news is that fear is only one aspect of your personality.  Don’t get angry at it or hate it.  Thank it for being in your life and tell fear you no longer need it.  Convince fear that you are living under the management of trust, self-love, self-respect, confidence, and creativity.  Inform fear that you no longer need its services.  It has protected you from change and from stepping into the unknown and taking risks.  Fear has been your friend, and, like all unhealthy friendships, there comes a time when you know it’s best to say good-bye.

Change Means There’s Something Better

Do you experience discomfort, unhappiness, uneasiness and pain because you do not have what you want?  Your issues are about change.   Are you willing to stay where you are rather than risk change?  The pain and discomfort come from the part of you that wants to stay as you are rather than opening up to the myriad of solutions that exist.  Staying in situations that are intolerable is easier than fear of the unknown.  Intolerable situations are health and weight problems; jobs that do not fulfill you or bring you passion; lack of love, fun, joy, pleasure, and money; a stressful, pressured life; and no time for healthy self-care.  At some level, keeping these problems is giving you a pay-off.  All of this is slow suicide.

You’re here to enjoy your life with vitality, abundance, and well-being--not just weekends or that once a year vacation.  Have you gotten used to managing your discomfort, unhappiness, and pain--even become comfortable with it.  Crazy as it seems, some would rather continually deal with problems and pain than making the necessary effort to change the core cause and truly live.  For many people change only happens when problems become a crisis and you can no longer stand the way things are.  Others find their lives worthy because of their struggles, problems, and pain.  Have you been convinced it makes you better or holier to suffer?

Nothing changes unless you change, and there are two kinds of change—inner and outer.  Many people are pretty good at the outer change— diet, exercising, working harder, and other outer actions that often don’t stick.  However, few are willing to commit to inner change, or simply do not have the skills for doing so.  All of the outer conditions in your life are caused by the inner world of personal truths, feelings, attitudes, expectations about your body and life, repressed emotions, and living in the past.

Are you willing to set aside consistent time to devote to inner work?   How much time do you spend procrastinating, worrying, complaining, or taking actions that feed your problems?

What can you change right now, today?  How are you willing to change?  Create a change plan and start with small things.

Do you have room for your greater good?

The guiding principle of life is that everything will change, and change always means there’s something better.   Everyday begins a new year and presents opportunities for new choices that will give you what you want.  Trust that everything works for your greatest good and that life is for you.  Trust is not possible unless you have moved beyond the belief that you’re unworthy, not good enough, and have to do it all yourself.

If you’re stuck in the past and doing things the same way you’ve always done them, your life and health will not change.  When you’re focused on a negative view of yourself, living in the past, and full of self-defeating attitudes, there is no room for something better to come to you.  Unless you change the inner, things will likely get worse this year.

Change is about allowing a greater, grander version of you to emerge.  Some people try way too hard, while others do nothing to create a better reality.  Let all of your issues and struggles, the circumstances of your life and the people in it transform your life once and for all—right now.

Many people accept the status quo—a life of mediocrity, and, even worse, struggle.  You are not one of those people.  We’ve all had a lifetime of training in living in fear, doubt, and negative expectancy, and ignoring the higher part of us that is attempting to lead us to effortless, abundant, healthy, loving and joyful lives.  The larger possibility of a healthy and wonderful life that flows in all ways--a life that is rich and rewarding--is closer to you than you have imagined.

Do you believe in ghosts?

They undoubtedly exist, and they don't have to have anything to do with people who have departed from this life. Are people who are still very much alive haunting and spooking you? Memories that lurk in the dark corners of your mind can leap out to scare you when you are in a vulnerable state.

It you want to flow with ease into an extraordinary life it may be time to disentangle yourself from people and memories that are keeping you stuck in the past.  It may be easier to free yourself from its power than you think.

Resentments, grudges, anger, blame, guilt and shame carry a heaviness to them that lives in and on your body.  Emotions have energy to them that, when not dealt with and released, clog you up.  Unresolved negative emotions cause stagnation in and on your body and in your life.  This stagnation can manifest as health and weight issues.  For others it shows up as relationship, money, or work-related issues.

Everybody has had negative experiences in their lives.  You can decide to learn from them, release them, and move forward, or cling to your pain, hold on tightly to your anger and guilt and keep it all alive in your psyche.  It is a choice and it is keeping you from your greater good.  Many people have had terrible things happen to them in their lives.  It is not my intention to diminish what you've been through.  However, holding onto anger, resentment, and blame only hurts the one doing the holding. If you’re having difficulty with this, seek some counseling or Attitudinal Healing Coaching.

Every experience has a positive gift in it.  Find it and you will move beyond the negative into your healthy, abundant and joyful potential.

The past is fiction now, and birth to one minute ago is the past.   Be bigger than the dramas of life; be bigger than the pettiness and fear that pervades society.  Find the best in everyone and everything. Whatever you are looking for you will find.  May everything you are looking for find you in 2008.
